Work Experience Programme 2016

Monday 11th July 2015 and Friday 15th July 2016.

All students in year 10 undertake a week of work experience. We hope that your child can arrange a placement that matches a potential career interest, but this isn’t the main aim of the programme.

Work experience will give your child a real insight into working life - working with adults, longer hours, shorter breaks, dealing with new situations. Work experience also allows students the chance to improve important skills - communication, time management, numeracy. Work experience can be an extension of a hobby or interest or an opportunity arising from connections by relatives or friends.

All students are encouraged to find their own work experience placements. Self-Placement Forms are attached and are also available from student enquires. These must be completed and returned to the Careers Office.

Students who are unable to self-place are offered support from the Careers Team to find a suitable placement. All students are asked what work placements they would like to do, and areas they can travel, we then help to arrange a placement as close as possible to these criteria.

Key Information:

  • Self-placement forms must be returned by Friday 27th November to Student Services.

  • Students unable to find a placement or who require assistance should go and see Mrs Ferneyhough during drop in sessions in the Careers Library - these are communicated via the Student Bulletin each week.
